A Great Cause

Well, folks. Every year the Newsome house gets bombarded with calls about donations to good causes. Well, as I am currently addicted to several medically related blogs, I just wanted to share what I think is a great cause...and technically its a raffle. Check out the "My charming kids" blog. I also pasted a button to the actual charity. The money raised will go to three different causes AND you have the chance to win an awesome camera and lens and strap and bag, etc, etc. I will warn you that this site gets up to 1500 comments (I get ONE or TWO!) on big days. I think you will get addicted to this blog- she is a gifted writer. I love her "Not me!Mondays." String of Pearls is a group that helps parents who are likely going to lose their newborns transition to "end-of-life care"-sort of like we have hospice for adults. Never thought about who helps parents deal with this when its their baby they loved for 9 mths.Along those lines...

I wanted to share some good and bad news. We have two sets of friends who were pregnant with triplets recently. They have both delivered, but with different outcomes. The Morales family has three thriving "nuggets" (shout out to my sister) and only spent 4 days in the hospital TOTAL. Pam is so strong. She was on bed rest for over 11 weeks! Check out their little miracles on their blog- 40fingers40toes (look at my blog list). The Wicker family had some early complications that led to pre-term labor at 24ish weeks. The babies were delivered at 25 weeks and all made it to the NICU. Their sweet baby girl, Lexie, died at 5 days old. I don't know anything official, but it appears they may have lost another of the triplets today based on some comments on their Facebook page. So sad. My heart just broke when I heard Lisa was admitted so early...sometime it sucks to be "medically inclined".

Anyway, I decided that the Newsome house was going to have a tree this year, despite an active 18 mth old and the fact that our kitchen is in our living room! I bought a tiny 3 foot Douglas fir and Ella and I decorated it tonight(past her bedtime). She wanted to put an ornament on EVERY branch tonight! It is pretty cute. I will post a pic soon.

Happy Holidays!
